Founded to Close a Gap Nobody Else Was Closing
In 2003, Lomo Senoamadi started Bashumi Instruments & Control Services with a specific observation. South African laboratories were buying precision equipment and instruments from multinational suppliers who understood the products thoroughly and the operating environment barely at all. Lead times were long, service response was slow, and technical advice came from another continent and another time zone.
What began as a specialist supplier of laboratory equipment and instruments has grown into a laboratory solutions partner. Today BICS supplies the full range a working laboratory consumes, runs structured calibration and maintenance programmes, and designs, builds, and refurbishes laboratory facilities for clients across food and beverage, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, water and environmental, mining, and research. The business operates nationally in South Africa and regionally across 5+ countries, including Mozambique, Botswana, and Zambia.
BICS is 100% Black female-owned and holds Level 1 B-BBEE status. The company invests in technical skills development, sustainable employment, and the growth of South Africa's laboratory and instrumentation capability, because the shortage of that capability is a national problem and not only a hiring one.
